Idiopathic Vestibulitis

I just got off the phone with the vet.

As their phone rang, I got so nervous.

Turns out that Charlie has geriatric/idiopathic vestibulitis.

It happens in older dogs (over the age of 8) and the cause is unknown, hence the name or at least the first two.

Vestibulitis happens in the inner ear of the dog. Again, it's cause is unknown and affect the dogs balance and equilibrium.

Basically, he's drunk.

The doc did other tests and everything else is fine with him. He's got him on some valium at the moment. And there is medication I will have to administer to him as well when I bring him back home. He said it would gradually get better over time, but there actually is no cure or anything for it. Just to let everything take it's course and all will be well with time.

Needless to say...I feel so much better.
